"People would often smile politely, or wave when they strolled on the Prom. They came from all over to spend a day at the beach, stopping for carmel corn, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones at the Turnaround. The Natatorium next door was open to the world at the end of the ocean. Painted on the other side of the yard, was a sundial where you could stand in the middle and tell the time by your shadow. There was a bike shop, a food counter, a film shop, two pools, with salt water piped in, and a maple floor skating rink with organ music playing all the time. This was everyone's ocean, and this was my window."
